Managing Director Debbie Heald rewarded with Over 100 Hours Award From STEM Ambassador Programme

We’re delighted to share the news that our Managing Director, Debbie Heald, has received the Over 100 Hours Award for her volunteering contribution as part of the STEM Ambassador Programme.

STEM Ambassadors contribute their industry expertise, knowledge and workplace skills to support young people’s learning and understanding of ‘real world’ industry scenarios. Whilst guiding students to understand how to apply aspects of skills to real-life scenarios, STEM Ambassadors make an impact by highlighting different career paths, supporting the knowledge of industry workplace skills, raising student expectations and inspiring future career choices.

The recent six-week STEM challenge in partnership with Hornsea School & Language College is an example of some of the activities Debbie and the wider Heald team undertakes. On this occasion, Debbie has been recognised for her generous support and time contributed to the STEM community. Debbie’s time spent with the local school and college leading the 6-week STEM challenge resulted in an overall 141 hours of volunteering hours since signing up as a STEM Ambassador.

This isn’t the first time Debbie has been awarded for her efforts within the STEM community. Previously in 2017, Debbie was rewarded with an MBE for her services to women and export in STEM. Debbie has high values when it comes to recognising and showcasing new opportunities for young people and is passionate about inspiring progression and nurturing careers within the manufacturing sector.

Debbie commented on her Over 100 Hours STEM Ambassador Award: “Being a STEM Ambassador is a huge passion of mine. I highly value what it takes to work in the manufacturing industry, and I am honoured that I’m able to contribute to and support young people in their future career choices and progression.

“The opportunities we offer at Heald for young people starting in the manufacturing industry are in line with our core business values and something we are incredibly proud to celebrate. I thoroughly enjoy the work we do to support the local school and college, and I am extremely pleased to be part of the STEM programme.”
