VACANCY: Stores/Yard Person

You will have the following duties:

  • Liaise with suppliers and managers to ensure the provision of site requirements are in place
  • Procurement of general consumable items through requisitions seeing through to proving delivery
  • Liaise with the manager to ensure the resources are effectively utilised
  • Supervise and assist the loading/unloading of new/used materials onto/off of delivery vehicles including the use of a forklift
  • Maintain database of material usage and keep stock take of materials and vehicles
  • Maintain agreed stock levels 
  • Identify and supervise clearance of re-useable materials
  • Document returned items and materials
  • Liaise with procurement manager when required
  • Ordering of material as required with approved suppliers
  • Maintenance of vehicle servicing documentation and scheduling
  • Plant safety checks
  • Recording goods inwards/outwards
  • Ensure checks to verify stock levels for re-ordering are accurate and appropriate
  • Carry out regular stock takes
  • Ensure goods are checked off in an accurate and timely manner and check for damages and quantity
  • Update computer system with accurate stock levels
  • Put material away in correct order after deliveries
  • Book out materials using computer system/SAGE stock control 
  • Keep workshop clean and tidy and do perimeter checks as necessary
  • To ensure the safe loading and unloading of materials onto vehicles 
  • Manage skips on site, ensuring materials are correctly disposed of 
  • Be responsible for receiving and checking all deliveries
  • Ensure all stock is stored in the correct manner
  • Handle queries relating to delivery and stock discrepancies
  • Keep records of and report any frequent shortages or spare items
  • pick and deliver materials using forklift


  • Full driving licence
  • A forklift licence/counterbalance 
  • Computer literate and knowledge of SAGE stock control or similar computerised stock control

Salary: £19,000 - £21,000

Permanent - Hours of work are 40 hours per week – 08:00 – 16:30 Monday to Friday
