Matador Crowned Winner at Made in Hull Awards

We are delighted to announce that on the 8th June, at the fourth Made In Hull Awards, Heald’s automated, sliding bollard, the Matador was crowned the winner in the ‘Sold Nationwide’ category.

Held at the KC Lightstream Stadium, the Made in Hull?Awards seek to celebrate the area’s excellence in manufacturing and its well-earned reputation for innovation within the sector.

Up against two other strong competitors, Savantini and Kingston Engineering, Heald secured the overall win with our revolutionary perimeter security product, the Matador.

The Matador is an automatic, sliding bollard system that has been IWA-14 tested to halt a 7.2 tonne truck travelling at 64 kph (40 mph). In product tests, not only did the Matador arrest the test vehicle with a zero-penetration rating, it continued to function following the impact with no repairs.

The Matador was recognised following a number of installations both nationwide and internationally. Sites protected by the Matador include the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre in Athens and the securing of the perimeter at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

Commenting on the win, Managing Director Debbie Heald added: “We are very proud to have taken home the win in the Sold Nationwide category and to have had our successes recognised in our local region amongst such a range of outstanding businesses. It was an excellent afternoon and we would like to congratulate all the other winners too.”
