Heald’s Visit to the University of Hull

Keen to encourage the next generation of manufacturing professionals, Heald Ltd recently visited the University of Hull, where the team spoke to aspiring engineers about working within the industry.

The graduate fair, hosted by the University of Hull’s engineering department, welcomed 189 students and 16 exhibitors; providing students with the opportunity to meet businesses and share knowledge and expertise.

Heald was among a number of other well known local and international businesses at the open day, including Siemens, Tata Steel, BP, Smith & Nephew, Sutcliffe Consulting and many more.

The University of Hull’s careers service advisor Tony Taylor commented:

“The University of Hull is very pleased with the success of the event. The students were able to meet with a variety of companies, all specialising in different disciplines. The students left with a lot of enthusiasm regarding their future careers and we also hope the businesses that attended also found the day useful”.

Undergraduates at the event came from a variety of backgrounds including electrical and mechanical engineering. Heald has recruited a number of talented engineering students from the university in the past and they hope to continue to be able to do so in the future.

Commenting on the event, Heald representative and Mechanical Design Engineer, Adam Stephenson said:

“The day was a great success. It was encouraging to meet so many intelligent and enthusiastic students who will certainly make a positive contribution to the engineering industry in their careers after university. I speak on behalf of Heald when I say we are pleased to be able to visit one of the country’s top universities to support the next generation of engineers.”
