Heald Directors Successfully Complete 237 Miles Bike Ride For Charity

At the end of May, our directors, Debbie and Rod Heald, took on the challenge to cycle 237 miles from Kent to Paris to raise money for two amazing charities, Stem4 and Cancer Research UK.

Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading charity dedicated to beating cancer through research by discovering new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer. Stem4 is an organisation which aims at promoting and protecting the mental health of teenage sufferers of eating disorders, depression, self-harm and addiction through the provision of support, education and practical advice.

The first day’s cycling was met with a number of challenges including, flat tyre and a broken spoke and wheel. Despite having issues, these quickly got resolved so they could both continue their journey. Once underway, Debbie and Rod cycled, on average, 55 miles for the first three days.

With daily temperatures reaching 30+ degrees, the cycle was definitely more challenging than anticipated. However, views of both the stunning UK and French countryside scenery made up for the challenging conditions.

Debbie and Rod finished their bike ride at Notre Dame, cycling a total of approximately 63 miles that day. Commenting on the activity, Debbie Heald?“It felt like a great achievement to not only finish the bike ride but to have raised a great amount for two fantastic charities that have played a large part in supporting those close to us and making a difference to many others across the UK”.

Debbie and Rod are already planning to take part in a similar bike ride next year to continue raising funds for charity.
