Heald Director Takes on Red Bull Romaniacs Challenge

Rod Heald, co-owner and chief inventor at Heald Ltd is set to take on his latest extreme challenge to raise funds for the MS Society.

Stepping up from completing a gruelling 237 road bike challenge from Kent to Paris last year, Rod plans to take part in the epic Red Bull Romaniacs.

The Challenge

Taking place from 30th July – 3rd August, Red Bull Romaniacs is a four-day motorcycle race and is known as the hardest off-road enduro in the world.  Attracting riders from more than 40 countries, it is located in the Romanian Carpathian mountains meaning the challenge does not come easy due to technically demanding hilly landscapes.

It is stated explicitly, that the selective characteristics of the route and the attainable maximum time for each section and each day are conditioned by the weather, perseverance and driving ability and can lead to a considerable failure ratio.

Knowing that Rod is not a quitter and find innovative solutions to some great challenges, we have no doubt that Rod will do well!

Who are we supporting and why?

We will be supporting the Multiple Sclerosis Society as Heald co-owners Rod and Debbie have seen first-hand the amazing work that the MS Society does following the diagnoses of Rod’s brother six years ago.

Multiple Sclerosis is a condition where your body attacks itself by accident. Your immune system normally protects you by fighting off infection, but in MS it attacks your nerves by mistake causing your body to slowly shut down while you are fully aware of what is going on, and at present, this is a life-long condition. Through fundraising, the MS Society has a vision to find a cure in a bid to create a world free from the effects of MS.

Why the Red Bull Romaniacs Challenge?

Rod and Debbie have always been interested in extreme sports. In their spare time, you’ll find them riding motorbikes and water-skiing amongst other activities, so the Red Bull Romaniacs challenge was the obvious opportunity to combine a love for extreme challenges while raising money for an inspirational charity at the same time.
