Heald Director Completes Red Bull Romaniacs Challenge

At the end of July, Rod Heald took on the mission of taking part in the Red Bull Romaniacs Challenge to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. The four-day motorcycle race is known as the hardest off-road enduro in the world.

Six years ago, Rod’s brother was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, a life-long condition where your body attacks itself by accident. Witnessing the hard work that the MS Society does, Rod decided to support this fantastic charity and hoped to raise as much money as possible.

The Red Bull Romaniacs Challenge was definitely eventful for Rod. The enduro did not disappoint with its hilly landscapes in the Romanian Carpathian mountains. During the four-day event, Rod was thrown in the deep end with muddy terrain and lightning storms. Not everyone who sets out to complete the event finishes due to the drastic weather, difficulty of the course and sometimes, equipment failure.

Rod completed the course in just over 38 hours, which is an amazing achievement for someone taking part in the event for the first time!

The whole team are very proud of Rod, who has to date raised £1,705 for the MS Society. Rod is extremely thankful to everyone who has donated to support the MS Society.

Simon Moran, Area Fundraiser at the MS Society, says: “We’re incredibly grateful to Rod and the Red Bull Romaniacs for taking on such a demanding challenge to raise vital funds for people with MS. MS is relentless, painful, and disabling, and the MS Society is here to make life better for everyone affected. But without the energy and enthusiasm of dedicated volunteers, like Rod, that simply wouldn’t be possible. We hope this inspires others to get involved where they can.”

If you would like to send a last minute donation, you can do so by visiting Rod’s Just Giving page. Donations, no matter how big or small are greatly appreciated.
